![]() We share everything, we take care of each other and even those outside of our community. I don't want to live without a community. The way most people live today is just not for me. Note: Over half the people in my community still use cellphones. I live in an intentional community so it makes it way easier to live phone free. My phone broke 6 months ago and I decided to give it a try. I keep posting that I don't use a phone (or rather have a service-less dumb phone used as a watch/alarm clock), but honestly it's an experiment, that happens to have worked for me. Otherwise, I don't think about it, and I that's exactly the way I like it. I like my phone because it can do anything I need it to do, if that need presents itself. ![]() The point of minimalism is to avoid worrying about stuff, right? We usually do this by paring down possessions and simplifying lifestyles. It seems to me like a lot of people around here worry too much about things like this. I used to be more into custom ROMs, games, and that sort of thing but it just seems like a waste of time now. ![]() The only things I absolutely need are transit and phone calls, but the other things keep me sane. I use mine for reddit at work, email, photos, music, communicating with my fiancée, phone calls, and mass transit via Google Maps. There's nobody forcing you to install Facebook, reddit, games, whatever. If you have a legitimate need to own a smartphone, then own one. ![]() Minimalism still has to satisfy your needs. ![]()
